Hi—
Saw The King's Warden yesterday. Park Ji-hoon falls into water early on, stands there soaking wet and completely defenceless, and I'm sitting there mid-sip thinking "this man is too beautiful." 😂
But was the film actually worth it?
Table of Contents
I can't say too much about the Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon dynamic without spoiling, but let me just say this: their farewell was nothing like I'd imagined.
🎬 THE SHORT ANSWER
Yes. With caveats.
What I loved:
That raft scene (obviously)
Park Ji-hoon's "dehydrated sadness" acting range—hollow grief that never breaks his dignity
The village scenes where he becomes their... idol (literally, it felt like a fan meeting)
Yoo Hae-jin's warmth (their farewell scene will wreck you)
Historical costume accuracy (the sangtugwan crown? gorgeous)
What didn't work:
Some choppy editing—cuts that don't flow smoothly
If you're picky about technical filmmaking, you'll notice
But here's the thing: the actors blast through those gaps with pure skill.
This film doesn't rely on flashy shots. It runs on human connection.
And it has that in spades.
🏀 THE SLAM DUNK ENERGY
Watching Park Ji-hoon's career has this energy—like everyone's holding their breath with quiet but electric anticipation.
The way the crowd watched Seo Tae-woong in Slam Dunk.
"What's that player gonna pull off next?"
That feeling. That's what this is.
📺 FULL REVIEW IS UP
I made a whole video breaking down:
The raft scene (in detail, because I'm still not over it 😂)
Why Park Ji-hoon's eyes tell the whole story
The village "idol" moment that made me smile through tears
What I honestly think about the editing issues
Si-eun vs. Danjong analysis
What Park Ji-hoon could do in a darker, heavier project

You’ll be "eating tear-salted snacks" in the cinema.
🎬 BEFORE YOU SEE IT
If you want the backstory on King Danjong, the costume symbolism, and Han Myeong-hoe's karma, I made a whole series:
Want to go deeper?
That's it for this week.
If you made it this far, you're either obsessed with Park Ji-hoon or you're about to be.
Welcome. We have excellent taste here.
