Hey, I need to talk about The King's Warden.

Because I'm obsessed and slightly unhinged about this 😂

📖 WHAT DIRECTOR JANG HAE-JUN SAID

Korea's top film magazine Cine21 just published a feature interview with director Jang Hang-jun. I'm sharing a few lines I think you'll love:

On Danjong's character: "We've defined him as weak. But how strong can a 12-year-old boy be? How weak can he be? He simply exists as a boy of that age."

On the final scene: "King Danjong's tragic end exists sorrowfully in the script. It's no exaggeration to say we started the film for that one scene alone. Building up the layers to properly show this tragedy was most important."

On Park Ji-hoon: "Every single staff member loved Park Ji-hoon."

(7 minutes. Tissues recommended.)

I've written about Park Ji-hoon before.

About this... trademark look he has: Park Ji-hoon has this... trademark look.

Those perpetually chapped lips that fans are always joking about wanting to put lip balm on. Those glistening, moisture-filled eyes that can cry on command since he was 9 years old. He looks like someone who's been through something. Like someone who's barely holding it together. Like someone who's thirsty for warmth, for love, for just... one moment of peace.

Park Ji-hoon specializes in what I call "dehydrated happiness"—joy that's real but fragile, smiles that make you want to cry because you know how much pain is underneath.
